Watergate South is part of the exclusive Watergate complex adjacent to the Kennedy Center in Foggy Bottom overlooking the Potomac River. It is the last of three luxury residential buildings completed in 1971. It is a 12-story building with 257 units and 2 levels of parking below grade. Watergate South is distinctive for its long-curved balconies, and it is considered to be one of the most desirable addresses in DC. From an engineering standpoint, the buildings are distinctive because they were the first buildings in North America to use the now-standard banded/distributed post-tensioning layout in the slabs.

Since 2011, Kline has been retained by Watergate South as their structural engineering consultant. Our team has performed several projects for the cooperative including condition assessment reports for the garage and balconies, post-earthquake assessment, post-tensioning repairs, waterproofing and expansion joint repairs, and complete rehabilitation of the swimming pool.
