KATHERINE FARLEY P.E.,

PRINCIPAL AND VP OF OPERATIONS

Katherine Farley, PE, is Principal and Vice President of Operations at Kline Engineering, leading the firm’s engineering and BIM teams from the DC Metropolitan office. With over 15 years of structural engineering experience, she has worked on major building and civil construction projects across North America, including award-winning developments such as The Arundel in Maryland and the Miami Science Museum. 

A recognized expert in post-tensioned concrete structures, structural evaluation, repairs, and formwork design, Katherine plays a key role in advancing industry standards while ensuring innovation, efficiency, and collaboration within KLINE. She oversees and develops operational strategies, ensuring seamless execution across engineering and construction coordination.

Katherine’s passion for engineering was inspired by her father, a civil engineer, whose problem-solving abilities during construction projects shaped her career path. She began her career at Structural Technologies before joining KLINE in 2012 as a project engineer. Her leadership skills and commitment to operational excellence quickly propelled her into senior roles, culminating in her promotion to Principal and VP of Operations in 2021.

Dedicated to education and industry engagement, Katherine has developed fundamental training programs on Post-Tensioned Concrete Design for Buildings and Construction Coordination, creating resources for Spanish-speaking drafters, young engineers, and construction workers in the U.S.. She is an active member of several industry associations, serving on PTI’s Spanish Translation Task Group, PTI DC-25 Parking Structures Committee, and NCSEA’s SE3 Committee on Structural Engineering Engagement and Equity. She has also served as a board member for the National Capital Chapter of ACI. 

Beyond her technical expertise, Katherine is a strong advocate for diversity and mentorship in engineering, working with organizations that support and promote women in STEM fields. As a dedicated problem-solver, collaborative leader, and mentor, she continues to inspire the next generation of engineers.

Originally from Lima, Peru, Katherine is fluent in English and Spanish and takes pride in bringing a global perspective to her work in structural engineering.
